Not Backing Down!

Love this picture ... not backing down!

What can I say, Ken and I haven't been doing anything worth writing about lately.   Our work weeks have been extending into our weekends, and when we do have time off ... it's either raining or we're just too damned tired to do anything much.  We're not backing down from cruising ... just not gonna kill ourselves in the meantime.  Gotta enjoy the present while planning the future.

Nirvana has been stripped of her sails and canvas since the recent threat of a hurricane that luckily never came.  With winter around the corner, we're thinking of leaving Nirvana naked until February or March.  We know our habits, and we know we won't be sailing in the winter.  Yes, it does get cold in Louisiana ... a damp cold that gets to your bones.  There's no need to put Nirvana's new canvas (bimini & sail pack) on, only to sit for several months in the elements.  That new canvas needs to last for many cruising years.

A few folks have asked if we've sold our house yet.  If you've been following along, you know that we haven't.  We've lowered the price a couple of times as the market has declined (where is that improving real estate market the media is talking about?), and we're probably going to lower it again soon.  One more price reduction and that's as low as we can go.  Gotta pay off the mortgage and some other business debt or it ain't gonna work.  For those that asked why we don't just rent the house out ... well, that would pay the mortgage but not the other debt.  We can't cruise with debt because we'd need too much income.  A real estate agent that I work with asked if we were gonna take the house off the market for the holidays.  My answer ... "Hell no!  We'll move on Christmas Day if that's what it takes".

Isn't it too soon to be talking about the holidays?  Tell me it ain't so that the stores are already displaying Christmas trees!  I guess I may as well accept the fact that the holidays (and winter) are right around the corner, and sailing Nirvana will be a little later.

Hasta luego ... until then.  Mid-Life Cruising!

Hang in there. Things have to fall into place eventually. Once we are in St Augustine stop on by. Maybe we can take your mind off stuff with a little ocean sailing and a few cocktails :)

You have the right attitude. Stay positive, enjoy each day, but keep that dream alive!

You'll sell you house at some point. You'll do just fine. The right buyer will show up and then it will be time to move.

Have a fabulous day. :)
