Blues In The Sun

After a rainy Saturday, Ken and I had to get outta the house on what was going to be a gorgeous Sunday.  What to do when our sailboat isn't ready and we're longing for something fun?  When watching the news Sunday morning, we saw that the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival was going on in New Orleans.  Bingo!  We jumped off the sofa and started getting ready.  This is a free festival in a park on the edge of the French Quarter, and it's always provided great food and music.  As I've mentioned before, Ken and I love music and it's always been a large part of our lives.  Free music in the city ... we're there!

We were glad to see that a guy we recently discovered at the New Orleans Jazz Fest was going to be there ... Jonathon Boogie Long.  He's from nearby Baton Rouge, and toured with B.B. King this past April.  I think he's got a successful future ahead of him.  This guy sings and plays the guitar with passion, and it was a real treat to watch him perform.  You can see his passion in the pics below ...

Blues in the sun, along with a few beers and some amazing brisket quesadillas, made a perfect day.  While we can't wait to start exploring other parts of the world, we're fortunate to live so close to a city that always seems to have something going on.

Hasta luego ... until then.  Mid-Life Cruising!

Hi - I stumbled across your blog recently and really like reading about your journey towards full-time cruising, especially your posts on frugal living. We're also getting ready to make the transition as well and move on to our sailboat in New Zealand in a couple of months and I've definitely picked up some great tips from you guys that will come in handy.
Cheers - Ellen
