We're Movie Stars!

Well, not really!  This past week Ken and I have been busy working, so we haven't replaced the water pump on Nirvana yet.  My temporary census job is now over and real estate is still slow, so this past week I spent three days as an extra in a movie ... anything to pay the bills!  The movie is "The Green Lantern", and the filming is in New Orleans. Our daughter, Erica, worked with me on Thursday, and Ken was able to join me as an extra on Friday.  This was our first experience as a movie extra, and it was interesting to see how a movie is made.  The pay isn't that great, but there's tons of great food (steak, shrimp, lobster) and we got to see the star of the film, Ryan Reynolds.  He seems to be a really nice guy, and is great looking, too!  We spent most of our time just hanging around, waiting to be used in a scene.  This is not a glamorous job!  We were used in a few scenes, so we'll have to watch the movie now.

Ken, Erica and myself are now signed up with a casting company, so maybe we'll be doing some more things in the future.  With the slow economy and being self-employed, we've learned to be flexible and open to different ways of earning income.  I just signed up to be a substitute school teacher for the upcoming school year, so I hope to be doing a little of that in the near future as well.  We just need to get through the next year or so and get our house sold, then we'll be able to finish getting Nirvana ready for cruising and be on our way!

The water pump is in, so Ken plans to install it sometime during the week. Hasta luego ... until then.  Mid-Life Cruising!

How fun. I've been near movie sets, but that's the extent of it. We don't have television so I don't even know who the actor is. Weird I know, but we don't miss television one bit.

Good luck on the substitute teacher gig. I hope that works out for you.

Have a terrific day. :)

No television... smart lady! I'm not really into having to watch a certain show, and I refuse to watch reality tv - just documentaries and travel channel! It will be a lot easier to rid ourselves of a tv once the islands are our home. Thanks for the good wishes ... anything to pay the bills for another year!

Is that the guy that was in "the proposal" with sandra bullock? if so--hunk!! I think he is married to scarlet johansen (sp?) sounds like a fun way to make some extra money!
