To The Beach!

"Northshore Beach" ... Lake Pontchartrain, LA

With the daily routine and stress of landlubber life, Ken and I have really been longing for some beach time.  Maybe we could spend a week in Jamaica, or check out the beaches of South Carolina for the first time.  Responsibilities get in the way, and we continue to daydream.

With Tropical Storm Karen predicted to visit us this past weekend, we blew off our plans to put our sails back on, along with our new sail pack.  Luckily, Karen wasn't all that bad.  Although she messed up our work on Nirvana with a little rain, we didn't have any "stormy" weather.  By Sunday afternoon, Karen was gone and we were left with gorgeous weather.

Itching to get outside and enjoy what was left of our weekend, we decided to take a ride to the local beach and watch the sun set.  Now when I say "local", I mean just five minutes from our house!  "Northshore Beach" has been around for years, but was sort of rundown and dirty.  We'd pretty much forgotten about this little beach until we heard a few folks talking about how much it had improved lately.

After stopping at the store to pick up a few Coronas, we also picked up a friend who was also buying a few beers.  The three of us hung out at the beach for about an hour before the sun set, and for a little while we felt like we were in another place ... far away from home.

This is a tiny beach and the lake water is brown, but there's nothing like the sights and sounds of the water to ease our minds.  I have a feeling we'll be visiting this beach a lot more often.

Hasta luego ... until then.  Mid-Life Cruising!

Lovely place and I'm glad Karen wasn't a big deal.

It's good to get out on the water. I'm about to do that starting tomorrow. It's time for the bay cruise.

Have a fabulous day. ☺

What a great way to get some beach time...and only 5 minutes away! That's certainly a nice benefit. Keep plugging away at it!

You can feel the stress melt away when you hit the beach.
