Flippin Out!

Flippin Out in Nirvana's salon

When I received an unexpected package at work, I got excited and it felt like Christmas.  It's so nice to have a  surprise every now and then.  What could it be?  The only thing I could think of was that email I had responded to a few weeks ago about reviewing a cool new product.  I hadn't heard anything, so surely it couldn't be.  To my surprise ... it was!  What's the new product that had me so excited?  Flips!

Flips are HD headphones that are comfortable and provide great sound, but what's even better is that the headphones "flip" into speakers.  Since we have an iPod, I thought these would be great to have.  We'd finally have a way to listen to our music anywhere we wanted.   Flips fold up and come with a small carrying case with a clip, which makes them easy to transport and use.  How cool would these be for cruising?!

Flips also come in black with a lime green accent

When I got home I immediately charged the Flips, which was supposed to take about 2.5 hours, but only took about 1.5 hours.  I couldn't wait to try these out, so I plugged in our iPod that night for Ken and I to listen to.  While I'm definitely no expert on sound quality, I do love my music.  I thought they sounded great! Ken has a better "ear" and he was impressed with the sound as well.

The next night we figured we'd listen to the Flips and see how long a full charge would last.  The instructions stated that the Flips last about 2.5 hours when used as speakers, and up to 100 hours when used as headphones.  When the battery gets low, a little light will start blinking to let you know.  I'm not gonna test the 100 hours, but I can tell you that after listening to the speakers for 1.5 hours the Flips started to blink.  Another 30 minutes later they were still playing, but we were ready to call it a night.  Based on our experience, 2.5 hours seems to be an accurate estimate.

We've had the Flips for about 2 weeks now, and we're really enjoying them.  Ken has brought them in the garage while getting ready for the next day's work, we've brought them out back to chill in the evening, we've brought them on Nirvana while hanging out and making plans, and last night Ken even brought them into the bathroom while taking a shower!

Enjoying some tunes after work

Flips can hang just about anywhere

I will note that Flips are NOT waterproof, but I can imagine these really coming in handy when cruising.  I think of times when the headphones will be used ... when we're in a crowded anchorage or when one of us can't sleep.  The speakers will be nice to bring to the beach ... just find a place to hang them and keep them from the sand and water.

I don't get anything for your purchase, but I'd recommend these headsets.  Wal-Mart just started carrying Flips, and you can also order them online from their site.  If you order online by July 16th, you can get $10 off their $120 price and an upgrade to rush shipping by using the code:  FA0010INT

As Ken says when grabbing the headsets, "I'm gonna go Flip Out"!

Hasta luego ... until then.  Mid-Life Cruising!

Way cool. Hubby would like those. He's always listening to something. Thanks, as I'd not heard about these yet.

Have a terrific day. ☺
