A Reunion, A Wedding and Epcot!

Epcot on a Friday night!

This past Thursday morning Ken, myself, our daughter, her boyfriend and a good friend loaded up the truck and headed out of town before sunrise.  We had a wedding to attend on the beach of St. Petersburg, Florida on Saturday!  Our high school friend was getting married, so this also meant a reunion with long-time friends.  Most of us still live in Louisiana, but the bride (Jo) moved away many years ago and recently moved to Panama (where she grew up).  Another good friend moved to Florida a long time ago and we hadn't all gotten together since last year when we lost one of our friends.

Thursday night we checked into the "Pop Century" resort so we could attend the annual Food & Wine Festival at Epcot on Friday.

We walked next door to the new "Art of Animation" resort, where each hotel building had a different theme ... Cars, Finding Nemo, The Little Mermaid,  and The Lion King.  The rooms are also decorated in the same themes ... so cool!

"Finding Nemo" ... my favorite

"The Lion King"

The lobby was full of drawings from Disney's animation department.

Friday morning we headed to Epcot and rode a few rides including "Soarin" which is like being on a hang-glider ... fun!  We then hit the countries of Epcot, where there were lots of extra varieties of beer, wine and food for the festival.  We ate and drank our way "around the world" ... good stuff!

Later that afternoon we met up with a friend of our daughter's boyfriend (now our friend ... Teresa).  Teresa works at Disney and met us after work.  We were also joined by our friends now living in Florida, Shane (the best man at our wedding) and his wife, Cheri.  The skies opened up and it stormed for about an hour, so we ran into the most convenient place in Epcot ... a pub of course!   After the rain stopped, we eventually made our way to Mexico for margaritas and a place to watch the fireworks show.

Next day ... checked out of hotel and "checked in" at Shane n Cheri's home ... a beautiful place!  We were joined by two more high school friends from Slidell, had some cocktails and a boat ride.

Wait, didn't we have a wedding to go to?!  We all quickly changed clothes and got ready.

Our family ... it's been too long since we've gotten together too.

The bride and groom ... Jo and Kevin

Lighting the lanterns and blowing bubbles

A beautiful beach sunset!

Got up Sunday morning, loaded the truck up, and were back in Louisiana just in time to watch the Saints game ... they won!  Actually, Ken and I were so tired we fell asleep before it was over.  After a weekend of partying and friends, we're still exhausted!  We had a great time, and one of these days we'll be able to visit the bride and groom in Panama ... by boat!

Hasta luego ... until then.  Mid-Life Cruising!

What a great weekend. Like one big party and of course the wedding. Way cool. Everyone looks so very happy and I can't wait to read about you leaving for Panama someday. Now that really rocks.

Have a terrific day and get some rest. :)

Looks like a great time. Ya'll needed that after all the stress you've had lately. Epcot center, wow. It's been about 18 years since I've been there.

I can't believe you were in St. Petersburg!!! Hans is in New Orleans (due back tomorrow) on business and I just got back from Kentucky where I was visiting my daughter. Talk about crossing paths! I'm glad you had a good time and I have a feeling you saw and did a lot more on your short visit than we've done since we've lived here.

Laura, hopefully the next time we cross paths we'll get to meet up. It is a small world isn't it? Glad you got to visit your daughter while Hans was away!

Dani, the wedding was great! I told my daughter that an inexpensive beach wedding is much nicer than a huge church wedding. Luckily, I think she agrees! =)
