They're Everywhere!

Have you ever put on a pair of eyeglasses and all of a sudden the whole world opened up?  I mean, you could see the leaves on the trees and the blades of grass on the lawn.  It's like all of a sudden the blinders are removed and you notice everything around you!  It's also kind of the same experience when you purchase something new.  All of sudden you look around and everybody's got one!  When Ken and I purchased our motorcycles years ago, we started noticing motorcycles everywhere.  When we bought a Camaro, Toyota, etc. it seemed they were all over the road.

Now that we've had our sailboat for just over a year and have dove into the cruising community, we're experiencing that same sensation.  We're amazed at how many people own sailboats!  Even more, we're amazed at how many people have the same dream of selling everything, moving onto their sailboat, then cruising the tropics.  Then there are the people who are already cruising and livin' the dream!  They are everywhere!  Just look to the sidebar on the right and you'll see we have several links to people that not only have the same dream but are also blogging about it as well.  That's another thing that surprised us, the amount of people already blogging about it.  That's not a bad thing, however, as we have learned so much from our fellow bloggers and hope to meet them someday.  The cruising community has a reputation for kind and generous people, and the blogs reflect it.

Ken and I were talking about the amount of cruisers and future cruisers the other day, and he started thinking that we might be too late ... maybe too many people are already doing what we thought was "out the box"!  I assured him that there's plenty of ocean for all of us and that we'll find our place.  While there are some places that do seem to get very crowded (who would have thought), it appears that there are still plenty of places to get away from it all.  Truth be told, we really don't want to be isolated as we enjoy meeting new people.

Needless to say, we're anxious for warmer weather so we can tackle some sailboat projects, sell the house and get out there with the masses.  Ya'll save a spot for us!

Hasta luego ... until then.  Mid-Life Cruising!

Boating and boating are wonderful and you meet the nicest people along the way. You're both going to love it.

Have a terrific day. :)

Great post...there is always room for one more. Now that the holidays and of course the superbowl has past, we too are about to get busy with working on our dream as well..and finding that spot on the beach somewhere.

Take care. debra

If the cruising life is half as much fun as the dreamin about, planning and preparation, then life will be good. Your posts are very inspirational. When work consumes far too much time and cruising lifestyle get pushed to the back of my mind, I read your posts, which then gets my thinking back on track. The idea of the secluded anchorages are just as inviting as the busier harbours where you will meet up with other cruisers.

Yes, the dreaming is fun but we're getting anxious. Come on warm weather! So glad to hear from others that are working on the dream as well. We hope to keep you motivated, just as you all do for us!
