We too do all the work ourselves, and that overhead sanding hurts! I'm surprised no one was wearing the tyvex suits. They're hot and sweaty, but when you're done, you emerge from them like from a sauna, refreshed but exhausted. Well maybe sauna wasn't the best metaphor. They do keep you clean, as that antifouling paint tends to dig into your pores, and keep you blue-green for days.Travis and Maggiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08895001344144858314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580803911138944660.post-27464826067864627152010-04-20T20:03:36.835-05:002010-04-20T20:03:36.835-05:00Maintaining a boat is a never ending job! And our electrician (who's replacing our batteries) is currently stuck in Ireland due to the volcano activity over Iceland!laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17174697892947430149noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580803911138944660.post-25389843803248853052010-04-20T14:47:09.492-05:002010-04-20T14:47:09.492-05:00It sounds like you're well on your way to beco...It sounds like you're well on your way to becoming seasoned old-salts. Maintenance is one of those things that allows you to become more familiar with your boat, which is a real necessity if you're going cruising. Good luck to you and keep up the good work!Neophyte Cruiserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00786143804921164212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580803911138944660.post-3249634508272239532010-04-19T15:38:03.206-05:002010-04-19T15:38:03.206-05:00Sounds great guy! We too have found no project on the boat is ever as simple as it seemed--like fiding out the bolts are under the gas tank!

Cheryl I think that is the "strut" that attaches the prop shaft to the boat. We had to have the shaft and strut replaced on our catalina 320 (at the prior owner's expense) when we bought it as he did not maintain the zincs (anodes).Pineapple Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10046852896932329051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7580803911138944660.post-91541763943918168442010-04-19T13:56:19.195-05:002010-04-19T13:56:19.195-05:00Wow, you guys are really putting in some very hard...Wow, you guys are really putting in some very hard work. We've not done any of this kind of work on our boat. They pull in and do all the work for us. I applaud you both for being able to do this.

You call them anodes and we call them zincs. Same function I suppose.

Have a terrific day and don't work too hard. :)Sandeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06785788498697004273noreply@blogger.com
